fragments.

Pieces of the Heart

In the process video below I’m painting on a canvas instead of on an art journal page. I think that was my first mistake, using a canvas.

I struggled. Battled perfection. And almost deleted the whole video.

Who would ever know?

Here’s the thing. I’m not making nor will I ever make perfect art. I make art because I love creating.

I share it so that you will be encouraged.

Maybe as a result you will venture into some creative endeavor of your own.

Maybe you will continue to search for your voice as I am attempting to find mine.

Maybe you will just be entertained for a few minutes.

Regardless, we become companions. Linking arms as we take first steps. Reassuring hands reaching out when we stumble.

In this painting I find myself a bit sentimental. Impulsively adding floating hearts half way through. They seemingly fly, soar, and drift off the canvas.

But these rising hearts are the true essence of the painting.

The holding onto and giving away pieces of your heart.

Who knew?

As much as I struggle in this video I realize it is the actual sharing that matters. Despite the flaws. Maybe because of the flaws.

For the heart grows in proportion to the giving of these fragments. Multiplying. Enlarging.

The manifold results are yet unknown.

I hope this video inspires you. Prompts you. And sparks your creativity.

In the cold wind, if you can lean against others, none of you will blow away. You keep each other from falling or help each other get back up. Someone holds out a hand, or even scared old you may hold out a hand and a person in need reaches for it and hangs on.
