a new normal.

Asking Questions

We’re all in this together.

Trapped in the same boat.

Losing our collective minds.

Well, maybe I should speak for myself.

I look around and discover I’m on a hamster wheel.

A revolving door of laundry and meal prep.

One day rolling into the next.

I need a break.

But from what I can’t say.

I search for personal space in a house big enough to offer plenty of privacy.

So clearly space isn’t the issue.

Trying to identify the discomfort is difficult.

Is it discouragement? Discontentment? Worry?

Sometimes merely acknowledging the unknown is enough. Owning the uncomfortable feelings. Being okay with not being okay.

In reality, maybe more important than finding answers is asking questions.

Who do I want to be right now? How can I make the best use of this time? What do I want to change?

And in asking the questions I understand.

Life is not normal.

And even down the road, it won’t be a previous version of normal.

Nothing will be the same.

I am not the same.

Maybe life, my life needed an adjustment. A reset. An overhaul.

So instead of complaining about the loss of normal. Whining about everything I’m missing. Grumbling about all the constraints.

What if instead, I choose to seek new possibilities.

Discover a new rhythm.

Embrace a new normal.

It’s not easy to look at things differently.

We all crave our regular, ordinary lives.

I get that.

But maybe, just maybe you and I can ask questions that will get us to a new version of normal.

It seems like that might be the best answer.
