Do Over

Reinvent. Redo. Remake.

Call it what you like.

I paint over and over and over most of my canvases. And then a year later I paint over them again.

I know what I like but am often unable to reflect that in my art.

You can try hard. Practice. Give your all. And still fall short.

So I’m in the midst of a do-over.

Changing what I don’t like into something that I do.

These art cards have all been remade. From something old to something new.

I’d like to think that quite possibly it means I’m on the verge of growth. Willing to evolve. Unhindered by revisions.

Often it doesn’t require starting from scratch. It’s just a matter of using what we have. Starting where we are.

Amenable to change. Filled with a fresh perspective. Open to new ideas.

It’s time for a do over.

I do not repudiate any of my paintings but there is not one of them that I would not redo differently.
