December 11 - Big Painting is now in it's new home

I'm learning. Slowly, very slowly. Art is a process. There is no rushing.

It builds. A little everyday.

I'm learning that it's important to practice. To try. To push yourself.

Why then complicate this already slow learning process by trying to paint large? And to make matters worse, why try doing it for someone else? Not. Thinking. Clearly.

Fear strikes. Thirty-seven avoidance techniques kick in. Laundry. Dinner Prep. Social Media. Anything to avoid failure.

That big painting sits there, mocking me. Unfortunately it takes up a lot of space so it can't be ignored. Okay, fine. I fluctuate most days between creating or just giving up. It's easier to quit, for sure. But important to press on.

I guess art is a lot like life. Maybe I am learning something after all.

The condensed version:

Oct 10 - Collage paper to canvas for texture. (upper left photo)

Oct 24 - Add layers of random paint. (upper right photo)

Nov 3 - Starting to get a feel for the composition. (lower left photo)

Nov 16 - Not working for me. Paint over most of canvas. (lower right photo)

Dec 2 - Finally finished (photo at beginning of post)
